The McGill Refugee Research Group (MRRG) is hosting three events this autumn focused on contemporary refugee issues.

Event 3: Refugee Protection and Empowerment: Updates from Around the Globe

As new refugee situations have emerged in recent years and other protracted refugee situations continue, how do individuals and organizations respond? Three McGill University PhD students from different disciplines will share their current or planned research on three refugee situations around the globe. Join us at Noon (EST) on Thursday, November 26 for our online session to learn more!

  • Cristina Yepez (Anthropology): Mobility, gender, and sexuality for Venezuelan migrants and refugees in Ecuador
  • Nik Parent (Geography): Congolese forced displacement, protracted encampment, and implications for repatriation
  • Merve Erdilmen (Political Science): Empowering Women Refugees in Turkey: A Local Approach to Global Challenges
