Despite these trends\, there is a scarcity of studies regarding the psychological\, academic and social situation of these adolescents and youths. Additionally\, further research is necessary to identify the psychosocial factors that either promote or hinder this well-being. \nThe aim of this mixed-methods doctoral research is to shed light on these questions. In this presentation\, the doctoral candidate will provide an overview of his current research by providing the psychosocial framework which articulates this thesis\, and the key findings of his research articles will be discussed. During the whole presentation\, active participation from the audience will be encouraged\, and suggestions to this research study regarding political science will be particularly welcomed. \n\nGülçe Baskaya\, University of Edinburgh\n\nThe Turkish Clan: Exploring Participatory Behaviour Among Turkish Immigrants in Scotland\n \nThis qualitative study examines the participatory behaviour of Turkish immigrants in Scotland\, mapping the patterns and underlying factors that shape their civic and political engagement. The sample consists of first-generation Turkish immigrants who have either obtained British citizenship or hold permanent residency and have lived in Scotland for at least five years. Data were collected through an ethnographic study involving 21 semi-structured\, in-depth interviews. Although Turkish immigrants represent a small group within Scotland’s broader immigrant landscape\, their participatory behaviour is shaped by multi-dimensional and transnational dynamics that shed light on the broader lived experiences of immigrants. \nThe key influencers identified in the fieldwork are categorised into three main themes. The first explores the influence of the everyday roles and the spaces where participation takes place; the second examines the influence of political conflicts\, either within the Turkish diaspora or local politics; the third one explores emotional factors\, particularly the negotiation between identities—one shaped by their experiences in Scotland and the other rooted in their Turkish-ness.
