DESCRIPTION:How can science inform public decision-making on immigration? This is a key question for both the scientific community and policymakers. To address this issue\, the Jean Monnet Center of Montreal and ERIQA are pleased to invite you to the webinar “Science in the service of public policy in the European Union” on Tuesday\, February 10\, 2026\, at 11:30 a.m. (Montreal time\, 5h30 P.M italian time). We will welcome Nina Kajander\, Deputy Unit Head in the European Commission’s Joint Research Center’s Demography and Migration Unit (JRC) and Fiona Seiger\, researcher/scientific project officer in the same centre. The Knowledge Centre on Migration and Demography (KCMD)\, part of the JRC\, provides independent scientific expertise to support the development\, implementation\, and evaluation of European immigration and demographic policies. This webinar is an opportunity to identify the challenges associated with the use of scientific knowledge in public decision-making and to explore concrete ways in which science can inform European Union migration policies.   \nPlease note that the webinar will be held in English.
